Things you need to know when you’re renewing your membership and Practising Certificate
Soon you’ll receive a kit from us with your Practising Certificate and membership renewal forms. There are some important additions that you need to know about. We’ve introduced electronic practising certificates and the Queensland Law Society Limitation of Liability Scheme.
Now is also a good time to remind yourself why it pays to belong to the Queensland Law Society and revisit the many professional, commercial and social privileges you have access to as a member.
Queensland Law Society Limitation of Liability Scheme
To improve professional standards, protect consumers and limit the civil liability of our members we’ve been working with the Professional Standards Council to develop a scheme that caps the occupational liability of solicitors in Queensland. The Queensland Law Society Limitation of Liability Scheme is offered to current practising solicitors who are full members. You can opt to be part of the Scheme during the renewal process.
Electronic practising certificates
This year, practising certificates will be issued electronically in PDF for your convenience. The option to receive a hard-copy Practising Certificate will be provided on the relevant form or online.
Applying online
Renewing your Practising Certificate and membership is easy online. Our online renewals will be available from 5 to 31 May 2010. You can of course still complete the hard copy forms we will send to you if you prefer.
