Law Society House - new COVID-19 directions

On 13 December 2021, Queensland eased restrictions for entry to Queensland.  As of Friday, 17 December, at least 80% of Queenslanders, 16 years and older, are expected to be double vaccinated.

In line with the new public health orders from the Queensland Government, Queensland Law Society, in consultation with staff and members, have issued the following direction for visitors to Law Society House.

The following applies from 17 December until further notice:

  1. Members and non-members attending Law Society House for committee and working group meetings and any other QLS related meetings will be encouraged to be fully vaccinated (https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/is-it-true) and show their vaccine status when entering the building. All such meetings are available via TEAMs or ZOOM. Those that are not fully vaccinated and cannot attend virtually should advise QLS in advance of attending Law Society House so that any physically distancing arrangements can be made and wear a mask at all times.
  2. QLS staff and any member of the public attending a QLS event at Law Society House will be encouraged to be fully vaccinated. Attendees to Law Society House will be asked to show their vaccine status on arrival.  Unvaccinated attendees should advise QLS in advance so that physical distancing and mask wearing arrangements can be made.
  3. Attendees and staff at QLS events that are held at off-site venues will need to comply with those venues’ vaccination mandates, which may vary depending on the purpose of the event and the venue.

Please note these directions may change subject to Government directions and public health orders. Please keep an eye out for communications from QLS over the break in case there are changes to the above prior to January 10, 2022 when we reopen for the new year.

We would also ask all visitors to Law Society House to please follow all hygiene and health protocols and maintain social distancing practices.
