Queensland Law Society has welcomed the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman’s announcement of the appointment of Queensland Supreme Court Judge, Justice Helen Bowskill as the court’s new Senior Judge Administrator.
Queensland Law Society President Elizabeth Shearer said Justice Bowskill is a highly respected judicial officer who will make a valuable contribution in the role of Senior Judge Administrator.
“On behalf of Queensland Law Society, I congratulate Justice Bowskill on her appointment,” Ms Shearer said.
“She is an excellent choice to follow in Justice Ann Lyons footsteps,” Ms Shearer said. “Justice Lyons’ commitment to working with the profession was outstanding. We look forward to working with Justice Bowskill as she takes up this vital position in our justice system”
Justice Bowskill has served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland’s Trial Division and a Judge of the District Court.
Prior to her appointment to the Court, Justice Bowskill was a barrister and Queen’s Counsel and practised widely in public, administrative and commercial law, with a focus on native title law.
The Attorney-General thanked retiring Justice Ann Lyons for her dedication to the Queensland Justice system.
“Justice Lyons was appointed to the role nearly four years ago on 24 August 2017 and I again want to pay tribute to her for her service, professionalism and management of the Trial Division,” Minister Fentiman said
