World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Mark this year’s World Elder Abuse Awareness Day by joining your peers and colleagues at Law Society House to share ideas, discuss current issues, and explore progress for the future.

With around 15% of Australians 65 years and over experiencing at least one recognised form of elder abuse each year, it’s more important than ever that we stand together against the abuse, mistreatment and neglect of older people.

Over breakfast hear from speaker Robert Fitzgerald AM, Age Discrimination Commissioner, Australian Human Rights Commission on his vision for the role of the Commission in safeguarding older Australians.

After breakfast, the immersive workshop will take you on a deep dive into the evolving landscape of the field, through interactive discussions, case studies, and practical exercises.

Our workshop panel is comprised of:

  • Rebecca Anderson, Solicitor, Aged and Disability Advocacy Law; Chair, Queensland Law Society Elder Law Committee
  • Nicky Mitchell, Managing Senior Lawyer, Caxton Legal Centre Inc.; Member, Queensland Law Society Elder Law Committee
  • Bill Mitchell OAM, Principal Solicitor, Townsville Community Law Inc; Member, Queensland Law Society Elder Law Committee

Join us for breakfast, the workshop, or both on Friday 14 June. Register now!
