Queensland Law Society advocates for good law, good lawyers and the public good. We provide the State with leadership in law through a range of strategic and practical services.
Our dynamic and contemporary organisation actively keeps pace with Queensland’s lively legal industry. We aim to increase the community’s understanding of the law, help protect the rights of individuals and advise the community about the many benefits of solicitor engagement.
What we do
Assisting the community
Queensland Law Society is passionate about advocating for equitable access to legal services. We actively tackle legal issues that may impact community interests.
We are committed to protecting the rights of individuals and assisting and educating the wider community about the law and solicitors’ services.
Our extensive referral list makes it easy for you to find a solicitor or firm that practises in a location that is convenient for you.
We have a successful track record of influencing governments to help ensure that legislation protects and supports the welfare and interests of the broader community. We do this by reviewing proposed legislative changes and advising government.
The Society is also a strong advocate for equitable access to legal services.
Educating the community

Protecting the community
We are the voice for the legal profession, but we also represent the interests of the community. We:
- take a position on a number of issues that affect the law and the legal system in Queensland
- provide submissions to protect the rights of individuals and propose improvement and change to Queensland law.
The Society keeps abreast of potential concerns through working with other interest groups and inspecting introduced Bills. We help ensure the Bills are fair, evidence-based, reasonable, and beneficial to the community.

Access to justice
Queensland Law Society believes everyone, without exception, should have access to legal services — it is a fundamental right in a democratic society.
Unfortunately not all Queenslanders have access to justice services due to personal circumstances such as financial hardship, lack of access in rural or remote areas and citizenship status to name a few.
Limited or no access to justice services can have a serious impact on a person’s ability to obtain a fair outcome from a legal process. In this vulnerable position, these people will have difficulty accessing justice services, which can further helplessness.
Queensland Law Society will continue to strive for guaranteed equitable access to justice for all Queenslanders.
